Collaboration Process

Together with its partners, Community Faces of Utah works to:

  • build capacity within communities,
  • tailor communication within communities and partnerships,
  • provide health education for communities and partnerships,
  • improve health access that links communities and partners to resources,
  • provide interpretation and translation services for communities and partners,
  • impact health policy that creates a healthier environment for communities,
  • work together to reduce health disparities,
  • become a self-sustaining organization,  and
  • promote health advocacy.

Monthly Meetings

CFU meets the second Monday of each month from 12–2 pm.

Researchers who are interested in meeting and/or collaborating with the group are asked to contact the Community Liaison to discuss their project and, if appropriate, arrange a time on a meeting agenda.

Timeline Examples for Collaborating with CFU

    • Researcher(s) meet with member(s) of C&E team to describe project
    • Community Liaison schedules a researcher presentation time at a CFU meeting
    • Researcher(s) provide a summary of the project in lay terms and a budget for community involvement (before CFU meeting)
    • Researcher presentation and Q&A at CFU meeting
    • CFU discussion and decision; potential further questions and responses after meeting
    • If CFU members decide to participate in the project, they sign letter of support
    • CFU members review focus group guide and provide feedback
    • Schedule time and location for focus group that are convenient for community members
    • CFU community leaders recruit focus group participants; follow up to remind them of focus group time/location
    • Hold focus group; provide translation
    • Community Liaison facilitates communication between researchers and CFU community leaders throughout the process
    • CFU members review survey and provide feedback
    • Translate surveys
    • CFU community leaders recruit survey participants and administer surveys
    • Community Liaison facilitates communication between researchers and CFU community leaders throughout the process
    • Researcher(s) meet with member(s) of C&E team to discuss focus/ideas for project
    • Community Liaison schedules a researcher presentation time at a CFU meeting
    • Researcher presentation of focus and/or initial ideas or focus at CFU meeting
    • CFU discussion and decision about whether the group is interested in collaborating on the project
    • If CFU is interested in proceeding, meetings continue with the research team to develop the project, grant proposal and budget for community involvement
