EVENT: PUBLIC ACCESS POLICY & YOU

If your NIH-funded research was accepted for publication on or after July 1st, 2025, you are required to comply with the new NIH 2024 Public Access Policy

To learn more about the policy change, who is affected, and how to remain compliant, please join us for our presentation, ‘Public Access Policy and You’ on December 10th, 4-5 PM MST. Register in advance for this meeting:

Key Points to Know:

  • The policy applies to all NIH-supported research, whether the funding is partial or full.
  • As CTSI resources are made available through NIH funding, any research stemming from CTSI services, pilot funding, or education/training programs (e.g., KL2/K12, TL1/T32, MSCI) must comply with the policy.
  • Manuscripts accepted for publication, the Author Accepted Manuscript (AAM), on or after July 1, 2025 must be made publicly available immediately upon acceptance for publication in PubMed Central (PMC), with no embargo period.
  • Check out the current list of PAP Compliant JournalsPublish - Zero Embargo and UU-funded Open Access Publishing when considering where to publish your manuscript.
  • Use the following decision tree when considering if your manuscript meets the criteria for immediate publication into PubMed Central:
