The University of Utah Health is pleased to announce the 2018 Vice President’s Clinical and Translational (VPCAT) research scholars. The 20 scholars represent departments from across the university including School of Medicine, College of Health, College of Nursing, the Utah Department of Health, College of Humanities, and College of Social and Behavioral Science.
The scholars were selected after a rigorous and competitive application process. They will participate in a two-year program designed to develop essential research, leadership, and practical skills that can be applied in clinical and translational research setting. In addition, a team of mentors will help the scholars develop leadership skills.
Scholars will have access to biostatisticians in the Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS) and grant submission specialists. These resources will help the scholars facilitate appropriate study design, collection of pilot data, and the preparation and submission of competitive grant applications.
VPCAT scholars are junior faculty who have a defined research interest, are in their second or third year at U of U Health, have a science mentor, published a minimum of two papers, and plans to apply for extramural funding during the program.
