Call for Research Strategy / Plan Narratives
CCTS Peer Grant Review Program
Deadline: Friday, August 12, 2016 by 4:00 pm MST
The Utah Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS) is now accepting research strategy / plan narratives proposing research conducted at any point along the translational science spectrum aiming to improve the health of individuals and the public for pre-submission peer review. NIH review criteria will be used to score each submission. Grants will be assigned at least one reviewer (potentially two). Formal reviews will be returned to the investigator by Tuesday, September 13, 2016. Please note applications are only accepted during the cycles listed below.
Purpose
Rigorous grant review prior to the submission of an application to a funding agency is an essential component of successful applications. The goal of the pre-submission peer review is to provide useful feedback regarding the strengths and weaknesses of the research narrative in order to aid the investigator in submitting the strongest application possible. Each research narrative will receive a thorough and impartial review by at least one reviewer. Each narrative will be scored independently using the NIH review criteria. Investigators will be provided reviews within 30 days after submission, allowing for adequate time to incorporate reviewer comments into their final agency submission.
Eligibility
All faculty who are submitting grant applications are eligible to submit their research narratives connected to research conducted at any point along the research spectrum for review. Investigators must submit their NIH Biographical Sketch and the research strategy / plan narrative section of their grant for review. The following guidance checklists provide further information on advisable documents to include in your submission. Additionally, if the proposal is for a career development award, the career development sections should also be included (see Career Development Guidance Checklist). Grants that have been previously submitted to a funding agency, reviewed but not awarded, and are being prepared for resubmission are particularly welcome. Resubmission applications should include any agency reviews (i.e., “pink sheets,” summary statement, etc.).
Submission Requirements
Along with the required, completed CCTS Peer Grant Review Face Page form (see below or attached fillable version), the PI’s NIH Biosketch, research strategy / plan narratives word documents, and any other appropriate ancillary documents as a single PDF (see Guidance Checklists) should be emailed to Ms. Erin Wachs (erin.wachs@hsc.utah.edu) no later than 4:00 pm on Friday, August 12, 2016.
