HC2 Pilot Project Awards Program – Request for Applications

HOPE & CAIRHE 2gether (HC2), funded by the National Cancer Institute, is seeking Letters of Intent (LOIs) by September 15, 2025 (5 PM MST), with full applications due by December 1, 2025 (5 PM MST). HC2 is a cross-institutional cancer prevention research center uniting the Center for HOPE, the Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI), and the University of Utah (U of U), with the Center for American Indian and Rural Health Excellence (CAIRHE) and Montana State University (MSU). HC2 supports innovative research focused on cancer prevention and control in populations living in persistent poverty (PP) census tracts across the Mountain West.

HC2 aims to foster a community of researchers, provide seed funding for impactful projects, and promote scalable solutions to reduce cancer differences in PP populations. Eligible projects must broadly focus on cancer prevention and control in PP census tracts and are encouraged to explore topics that may include, but are not limited to the effects of place on health differences, income and wealth differentials, community-based interventions, screening, survivorship, and environmental risk factors. Learn more about how your research can contribute to meaningful change in cancer prevention for populations most in need by contacting Cho Lam, PhD, Research Associate Professor, Huntsman Cancer Institute.
