REDCap is an easy to use, self-service web-based application for building and managing online surveys and databases that is subsidized for University of Utah research needs by the Clinical Translational Science Institute. All users must first register their projects / study in ProTrackS. Please visit the ProTrackS page to register the study and obtain a CTSI ID. The CTSI REDCap instance is available to support researchers across the University of Utah.

As of July 1st, 2023 the CTSI BMIC supports the REDCap production instance as validated for electronic informed consent and for electronic data capture (CRFs) for FDA regulated studies requiring 21 CFR Part 11 compliance. FDA regulated studies require additional ProTrackS registration, additional fees for support and administrative management from the Biomedical Informatics Core. These 21 CFR Part 11 services for FDA regulated studies must be requested additionally from a general REDCap project request with ProTrackS. A BMIC team member will help with setting up and reviewing the needed items be completed for your FDA regulated study in order to maintain compliance with implementation.

For all research users of the CTSI REDCap production instance, new electronic consent templates are accessible through the REDCap template list in the CTSI production instance for ALL econsent project to use. Additional training, presentations and announcements will be available starting in late July of 2023. There is no additional charge to use the new econsent templates for non-FDA regulated studies. If you are working with a sponsor that stipulates 21 CFR Part 11 econsent compliance but is not an FDA regulated study, please reach out to the BMIC for assistance on compliance requirements before proceeding.
