Human Research Protection Program

What is a Human Research Protection Program (HRPP)?

Academic institutions conducting federally funded research are required to have HRPPs. The HRPP has multiple components designed to protect the rights and welfare of research volunteers.

What many investigators and study teams do not realize is if their study is using an SIRB, HIPAA Privacy and IRB review are the only piece of their HRPP taken on by the reviewing SIRB. All other ancillary committees and institutional reviews must still take place at the participating institution.
