Received CTSI funding, training, services, or other support? Submit a CTSI Publication Review Request BEFORE journal submission.

The Utah Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) is supported by Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) program funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Publications are a key measure of the CTSI's impact and help demonstrate how CTSI research, training programs, services, and resources advance health.

Publications resulting from CTSI support will either need to cite the CTSA grant as a funding source OR acknowledge the CTSI. This determination is not always straightforward, and federal requirements change over time. We can help!

The CTSI will quickly review and provide guidance to help you:

Determine whether to cite a CTSA award or acknowledge the Utah CTSI
Identify the correct award number(s), if citing a CTSA award is determined appropriate.
Meet NIH Public Access requirements, if citing a CTSA award is determined appropriate.
Address possible foreign collaborator and foreign component considerations
Avoid attribution and compliance issues, as they may be difficult to correct after publication

Your submission also helps the CTSI demonstrate the impact of CTSI-supported research, training programs, services, and infrastructure to the NIH.

Actions: Submit a CTSI Publication Review Request Cite a CTSA grant as a funding source: "The research reported in this publication was supported by the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences of the National Institutes of Health under Award Number(s) [insert award number(s)]. The content is solely the responsibility of the authors and does not necessarily represent the official views of the National Institutes of Health." Follow all NIH Public Access requirements. The CTSI will be monitoring for compliance.	Actions: Submit a CTSI Publication Review Request Include the following statement in Acknowledgements: "Support for this project was provided by the Utah Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) through its [service/resource]. NIH awards to the CTSI did not provide direct funding for the research described in this publication [if applicable add: or for any foreign components of the work]." Not required by CTSI to comply with NIH Public Access Policy, but may need to if supported by other NIH grants.

If your publication includes collaborators, investigators, institutions, or authors outside the United States, it is critical that you submit a CTSI Publication Review Request before manuscript submission. Foreign collaborations may require additional review to ensure appropriate grant attribution and compliance with NIH requirements.

Any investigator, trainee, scholar, or study team member whose project received CTSI funding, training support, consultation, services, infrastructure support, or use of CTSI resources should submit a CTSI Publication Review Request.
